Umbrella Liability
Personal Umbrella Liability insurance provides an additional layer of liability protection over and above the primary limits of home and/or auto insurance policies. While it applies to losses over the dollar amount in the underlying policies, terms of coverage are sometimes broader than those of underlying policies.
The Personal Umbrella Liability policy offers a higher level of coverage protection from damages for which the insured may be held responsible. Personal umbrella policies offer:
- Personal liability coverage for incidents on or off the insured’s premises
- An additional layer of protection against automobile-related liabilities
- Protection against non-business related personal injury liabilities, such as libel, slander, wrongful eviction or false arrest
- Legal defense costs for a covered loss
