Disability
Disability Insurance is designed to replace anywhere between 60 to 70 percent of the insured’s pre-tax income on a tax-free basis, should sickness or illness prevent them from earning an income in their occupation.
Disability is defined as any mental or physical illness or injury that prevents a person from performing their regular or customary work (California Unemployment Insurance Code, Section 2626). This includes elective surgery; illness or injury resulting from pregnancy, childbirth, or related conditions; or inability to work due to a written order of quarantine from a state or local health officer.
